The name Castor takes inspiration from the large circular hill, shaped like a beaver’s lodge, on the side of which the cottage is built. Sloping steeply to the water’s edge, the topography also informs the two-storey design of the four season lake house, shared by two brothers and their partners.
The main living areas and two master bedrooms are on the upper level, which includes a vaulted ceiling and clerestory. Below, hidden from the driveway entry point, are the guest bedrooms and a work studio. A walkout from this level provides easy access to the lakefront.
