History and a love of art inform the design of this cottage. The layout is based upon that of a previous family cottage that was lost in a fire. And, contrary to most MAFCO houses, there are numerous solid walls, to provide space for the residents’ extensive collection of artworks. But still, the two storey building has 34′ of glazing along the lake elevation, while sliding doors in the living room and master bedroom lead to outdoor decks.
Additionally, the owners had the cottage designed with ageing in mind, locating the master suite, office and living space on the main floor. Guest bedrooms are on the upper floor, which includes an outdoor roof deck.
